Happy Birthday to Nick Today!

So this week has been a ton of fun, working and kick'n some major ass. (Did I mention before that this blog is rated R?) So here was my week in a the Quick Recap

QUICK RECAP ~

Mon: Worked on a Photo shoot/ Commerical for Shop @ Home TV, the first gig that I have booked thru my agent. 12 hour day, tons of fun and I got hosed down! I should have some pictures soon. (...and Bree had her callback for 'Trailer Park Justice')

Tues: Worked a double day at the Daily Grill... made ok money and was totally poop'd when I got home... (Bree worked during the day and had rehearsal for '2nd Time Around')

Wend: Worked in the morning and shot "What A Great Idea", this really crazy film that I have been working on for 3 months now and I have no idea what the movie is about any more... (Bree worked during the day and had her gig at Warner Brothers, the staged reading of the pilot "2nd Time Around", which she said went good)

Thurs: Had more filming on "What A Great Idea" and then worked that night. (Bree spend the day rehearsing for 'Trailer Park Justice' with "Nasty" Brian Knobs)

Fri: I worked during the day, closed that day (so I had to stay till 4pm) and then hung out with my buddy Doug for his birthday and I got the Criterion Version of Robocop from him (which totally rules!). We went out to Claim Jumper, and I at what felt like a true TON of food... but wasn't really that much... It was very odd... and then we hung out with Bree till midnight (Bree filmed all day on 'Trailer Park Justice' - here is a photo of her on the set, I am not sure who these other two people are... I would think fellow cast members? This is a great and wonderful step that she has made and I am so proud of her and all of her hard work!)

Sat: Today - I filmed all day in Orange County (in the city of Orange, which looks alot like Woodstock) on a really cool and I am sure, very funny, student film. The Director's name is Ethan Cushing, and he, along with his crew, run a tight ship and the filming has been a blast... at first it was a little weird with the rehearsals, because Ethan over-explains himself, and for me, I dig "less is more" in directing - I like to hear something very simple: "I wanna see X" and then, I do X... but he is very cool and has some alot of really great ideas... it is just that I get them the first time he says them =) But I worked on that today and will be back at 7 am tomorrow for the final day of filming. And now I am updating my blog. (Bree spent the day sleeping in and napping until she had to head to work, which is where she is right now... and she needed the rest, she has been go-go-go for the past two weeks straight without a break and I was starting to get worried that she was going to get sick like I had been last week... but thank god she was only sick for about one day, and has mostly be tired, but I think she is back to her old self again!)

So I bought some webspace tonight too. So very soon you should be seeing jasonryanlovett.com coming to life - with more photos, sound clips and little movies then anyone would ever want of me! =) It should be nice - Jen is making it and I love what she did with Bree's and I cannot wait to see what comes of mine!

ALSO Today is Nick's BIG BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA! If you didn't call him or write him - what the crap are you waiting for... and as for news on Nick's week... he worked, and did things that I am not allowed to talk about right now... they are all DL still... (lady matters)

and as for Jabez, he slept, watched TV, pooped in the house, ate a few meals, nap'd, and chew'd up an old pumpkin toy. Big events for the big man!

Well, I need to finish updating my resume and working on things to send Jen for the website... and then I think I might watch a movie till Bree and Nick gets home...

Good Night you princes of... where ever you are ;)

Back from the great unknown

Wow... I am still not very good at keeping up with this thing... I let it slide like two days and it becomes three weeks it seems like over night =)

Anyhow, things here have been going really great and I am going to give ya the breakdown...

So Bree had two really cool auditions - one was for a staged reading of a pilot. For those that don't know, a pilot is what TV companys and independant producers make and they try to sell the show based on that one show (remember the Fox Force Five conversation from Pulp Fiction?) Anyhow, so she had this great audition and she got it - she has been working on it work a few weeks now and tomorrow is the big reading - The head of Comedy & Development for the WB, Execs from NBC & CBS, Dreamworks and Melissa Skoff casting are all going to be there! So this is big stuff! And then the second was for an improv show called "Trailer Park Justice"... Bree had two callbacks and landed that gig too! And not only is the show paying, but Huk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin are going to be on the episode that Bree is in! And she has a huge part! So major congrats go out to my little lady this week.

As for Nick, he has been working like crazy and been spending a great deal of time with his own little lady (since they are kinda on the DL I am not going to go much into it, but lets just say, things are going rather well!)

Jabez has been spending a great deal of time sleeping and eating... he got a new bone a few days back and is back to playing with his pumpkin toy... tho it is almost Christmas time (he is a little bit behind the seasons)

And I have been working like a dog myself, working as many days a could since getting back from Chicago, I spent most of last week under the weather (and then had Bree sick for a few days) This week I am working/worked on a commercial for Shop @ Home TV, a full leangth film that I am wrap'n up work on (What a Great Idea), and two student shorts (The Lion in Winter and Beer Goggles)... and all of that while I am still working 5 days a week at the DG! I am nuts! Plus Bree and I, with our good friend Steve, are being the work of forming our own theatre out here in LA - theatre in LA sucks, and we are going to change it... so we are making our own... =) I am not sure what it is going to be called or what the plan is so far, but we are starting to work on all of that... (and Bree thinks we are starting to hit "a dry spell" ;P)

So things in the wild west have been really good and I cannot wait (nor can Bree) to come home for Christmas - that is going to be a blasty blast!

Well, I shall write again soon - and not three weeks from now =)

WHITE SOX WIN!

Hey that is a good way to get us started as we have just come back to LA, to our home away from home... The Soxs just won the World Series, Nick is on his first LA date and Bree is at rehearsal for "The Lion in Winter" while I am at home on TeamSpeak with Steve (WhosInMyMouth), Jenn and Corey... (where did you go scott!?)

We got back yesterday from Chicago, as we were home for the Resurrection Mary premiere. We were home Thursday thru Tuesday and there was little time for rest or slowing down the whole time. We got to see our friends, our fam and the movie, so I would say that we got to do just about everything that I could have hoped to do. The ladies had time to go dress shopping while the men got to frag each other all day! Bree and I got to have dinner with my 'rents and with hers as well, tho not on the same night, we got to take 4 fun round trips to O'Haire, and traveled about 500+ miles by car this weekend and got to sleep a record of 12 hours in 5 days! It was a blasty blast! =)

The Premiere went great - all of our friends were there, 30+ people from Bree's Family, my Parents, and about 1,200 other people that we didn't know all to well. They all came through the rain and even tho the world series was going on IN Chicago! It was really great... I enjoyed the movie and felt it was better than my last outing in film (Boo! The Movie) tho I didn't get any great lines this time like "That's because any man who tries would get frostbite on his dick" or "I'll buy you a bearclaw" =) I loved Bree in it and I am so proud of her and all of her hardwork - her first film and she was so good and so hot! And all the hardwork and long nights that people put into the project really showed and it was very nice to see. Blood, cheap and not so cheap scares galor! I am still not sure what I thought of myself, but then again, I am not going to think about it too much - we are always our worst critics and even if/when I win an oscar I am still going to question how good I was in that role... that is just how I am. I like to think that I have been humbled at least a little bit, though I know I still have a long way to go in that department. I have gotten some good feedback about it, which was and is nice. As much as some people don't believe I like to hear what they really thought, of me, of Bree, or of the film, I really do because in the end it is the only way that we learn and grow. I am glad that people like the film, or liked us, or liked both. I am also glad for the honest ideas toward the film ~ Thank you Neil, I liked the LJ, I am not sure that I totally agree but I am glad that you were honest :D - I am also looking forward to getting that LNE disk from ya, or at the least the files. Overall I had a great time and feel like I got something really great out of Resurrection Mary - the memories, the things I learned and the film - thank you to everyone that came to see the movie and to all of those that wanted to but couldn't make it out... The DVD will be out soon (I think) and I will let you all know... and Michael, thank you so much for letting me be apart of Mary, I had a great time making the movie and a wonderful time watching it. Here's to next time. ...I am also looking forward to getting a poster for my hall... wink, wink.

So onto other things and back to the grindstone. I went back to work today and it was like I was never gone for what that is worth... the antena fell of my phone today too, so I will have a new one coming in the mail in the next few days... I have an audition for a movie (a fun comedy) on Saturday afternoon, and Bree has two auditions on Saturday ~ she always has to one up me =) ...I am also trying to get into Worlds of Warcraft with Steve, Jenn, Scott and Corey, which I should be able to get going on in another day or so... I am also going to be buying a website (which Jenn is going to build for me, because she is the coolest!) and that should be up before thanksgiving (money is a little tight right now, so it might be a week or so before I buy any internet land and then it takes time for Jenn to build it, I am not really sure how long that can take to build a site, since I have never done it before...

So things are going well in some ways and crappy in others... money, aslways is tight, where we live is starting to grate on us all... (we all hate the parking problems, the people we live around - mainly those that live next door to us, and the odd as hell traffic outside our front door), but other things like the ones listed above, are going great... life is getting into full swing here so it should be on the up and up really soon (I hope :P)

Miss you all to those I just got to see and to those I am not sure when I will get to see next. Email, post, phone or send a letter - I would love to know what is going on with everyone else and their supercool lives... Love and miss you all!

Till next time,
The J-man

Macbeth is No, but Sundance is A Go!

So, the 15th has come and gone, and Utah Shakespeare Festival said that they would let me know about Macbeth by that date and no later... so it seems that I am out of the running for that show, but that is okay because now Sundance 2006 gets the green light! I cannot wait! I had a great time last year, got to see some of the coolest movies, met the new James Bond, Daniel Craig and made some cool friends... so who know what is going to happen this year!

Sat:
I had an audition for a Bally Total Fitness commercial, which I thought went really good, other thant the fact that every other guy there reading for the part I was was my dad's age... I think my agent needs to really think about this stuff before just sending me out for no good reason, you know what I mean =)

Bree also had an audition for a short film (well, it would film over 14 days, so I am not sure how short the film really is) and it went great for her - they loved her and said would be getting ahold of her soon for a callback. And speaking of callbacks, she got one for the film she auditioned for out in Marina Del Ray, for the leading role, which is not what she went in for! Good for her!

That night I worked... nick also worked last night and Bree stayed home while our neighbourhood had some kind of crazy party...

And after work we went out to see Nick at City Walk and hit a flick - Domino (which I thought was super f'n good! So fun!) We saw it with Nick and Doug. Overall a good night! Also saw a ton of great previews and talked with Doug over the pilot we are going to filming in the coming month for the Indie TV fest that we are trying to get Till's Alley up and running for... Doug wants to make two shows - one called Crisis Management, which is a CSI:Miami/Without a Trace Action/Special Forces type show - and in the episiode (which would be the season closer) I play one of the leads who goes ape-shit! I is going to be great! And the other show is an Entourage type show called Flushing Gupies, which Bree would have a great leading role, so I hoping that we can get both of them made... I think there is one or two smaller roles for me in the second show too... I cannot remember... but overall really cool stuff going on right now...

Just days away from the Frist Screening of Resurrection Mary and I cannot wait to see everyone when I get home!

Another day, another... day? =P

So here is a recap of the past week.

Mon:
Bree and I worked, then I went to class (David Kagen's School of Film Acting) and Bree hung out with our buddies - Zirky and Connor.

Nick worked and hung out with us... when I got home from class, which was fun, tho there was only four people there... including me, we watched RAW - which was great! I still love Triple H - he is, and will always be, the man!

Class is always something else - we work in close-ups for film and it is really hard to explain, but I feel like I am doing some really wonderful things in class that is bring me up to new heights with my understanding of acting, and makes me want to talk about it and try to explain it even less... I just love it for what it is.

Tues:
Bree and I worked, and then bree had an audition that afternoon for Sharp Copiers... and we also went looking at new places to live around the area... we found two nice new places...

Nick had the day off... I think this is when he went golfing with Uncle Steve.

Wens:
Worked again... Nick had the day off... then I had an audition that night for a pilot staged reading, which Bree has already been cast in. I thought that it went really good, but I have not yet heard back from them, and I was way to yound for the role... or so I think.

We came home and played RAW and also went to the gym

Thurs:
Bree had to work in the morning and I had the day off, and Nick had to work. We took Jabez to the doggie spa for the day and we ran around, did some shopping and got some lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, which is one of my favorite places on earth to eat! We got Bree a bluetooth headset for her phone, which she loves and wears ALL THE TIME! =P Then we came home and Bree slept while I played video games on my day off... we topped the day off with some fun gym time and yoga! All in all it was a good day! ...and we played RAW with Nick when he got home.

This is one of my favorite things to do right now, and I am very proud that I have turned both Bree and Nick into gamers in this way - they both love playing RAW to end the night - every night... and they both get on me if we don't play, which is very funny - they are now die-hard gamers and I am not sure they know it! HA HA HA!!!

Fri: Today

Bree and I had to work, as did Nick, and Jabez got to sleep the day away. Bree and I were both on the floor today - she serves once or twice a week and the rest of the week is a manager and runs the door... Today was a little slow at work and the money wasn't as good as it normally is, but hey, they cannot all be winners.

After work we headed home, I answered some emails from friends about the movie and other fun things and then we headed to dinner and to do some shopping. We went to a place called The Yard House, which is a draft beer place - good food and great beer, which I seem to love since we moved to LA, and I was never really into beer before...

I also got a call from my agent - got an audition for a Bally Total Fitness Spot - non-union, I have the audition tomorrow, it is for the host - and pays really good, so please say a little prayer for me.

And a big one for Bree because she had 4 auditions this weekend - and I believe that they are all for films... one might be a commercial spot, but the others are films... I think =) Either way - say a big prayer for her! We want her to get as many as she can!

...and as of right now, Nick is still at work, should be home soon...

5 more days and then I will be walking the streets of McHenry for a short time again. It is going to be a blasty blast! I cannot wait... I love LA so much, but I also miss home and I am sure that the 5 days that I am there are going to be just long enough to give me a recharge and then I am going to want to come home to LA. And that is really funny to me that I call this place home and I don't call McHenry home... but Bree never calls LA home... she cannot wait to be back either.

We hope to see lots of fun faces while we are back and I hope that as many of you can will make it out to see the movie - It is going to be a SUPER COOL time had by all - I am sure!

I got this great picture - a nice black and white still that Michael is using for the t-shirts, so I thought I would give you all a look see. Check out the trailers, if you haven't already, on Resurrectionmary-movie.com (or use the link in my sidebar)

Also, I am going to be linking up my friendster account here in the next couple of days - so drop on by and sign-up, should be fun! =)

Miss ya and remember -

Best fishes!

Workin like a dog

That is if dogs worked at restaurants... anyhow, I have been working many long and hard hours, many shifts and a ton of doubles which is great for the money and not so great for about anything else. But I have been working on acting stuff too - I have had a few auditions in the last two weeks and I have another tomorrow. I also was on "According to Jim" this week. For those that don't know, I am friends with one of the main prop men and he got me on the show - while the part again is non-speaking, they really liked me alot and want me to comeback again very soon - which means I could be on my way to getting into the union... or not still =) who knows, right? But it was a blast and here is a picture of me on the set of "According to Jim" - I got to meet and talk Chicago with Jim himself, Steve introduced us. He was a very nice guy, outgoing and really fun to talk to. It was a great time overall.

So - how many of you have gotten your tickets for Resurrection Mary!? Do that ASAP - and I don't want to hear "But I live to far away" or "I'm going out of town"... come on now, I live out of town and 2,000+ miles away and I am going to be there, so you either need to be dead, have someone who is very close to you who is, or be on the space station (and none of you are last time I checked, only that Russian dude) I really want everyone I know to be there and see it with me for the first time, we all put alot of hard work into this film and I just know that it is going to be great! And I want to see my friends and since I don't have tons of money to come back all the time or time when I do come home, I figure this is a greta way for us to all get together and party!

Bree has also been going out for alot of stuff lately, she had a film audition in Marina Del Ray yesterday and a few good ones last week as well. She too has been working just way to hard at the DG, as we like to call it. In the coming weeks are going to be working on getting a theatrical agent for the both of us as well as working the management and casting director angle... so we shall see how that goes.

and go see "Waiting" - we saw it the other night, and besides having Dane Cook in it, which makes a movie gold to me for the start, it was the funniest movie for anyone who has or has friends that have worked in a restaurant and since you all know me, Bree and Nick, you should love it - Dane makes me think of Nick so much! Trust me and go, run and see it now!

Well, 13 days till I am back in the midwest, side-by-side with Bree, and we will be hanging out with the whole gang! Cannot wait. We shall see you really soon!

Much love ~

J

(And Jenn, I know you are having a wonderful and adventerous time - knitting can be deadly if you don't know what you are doing and THAT is an amazing adventure!)

Thank you... And now a word from our sponsor

I must say thank you to all of you that have emailed or posted me about the toubles that Bree and I had and have been going through in regards to being here. We are so grateful to have so many people in our lives that stand behind us with such love and support, no matter where we may go and what we may do.

The reason I haven't posted in such a time is because I have been thinking alot about the things that have been said to us through the blog, things I have been reading that others who have walked a similar path to us here in LA and what they have had to say and been doing alot of great talking with the friends of mine that I live with here in LA and who have been working toward the same things that Bree and I have been fighting for.

I have realized the McHenry will never stop being home to us, no matter how far we roam or how long we stay away. That we came here, with a dream in our hearts and we are living - day by day - that very dream. Some days we have nothing go right and others the whole world falls into our hands. That we came to be actors when we are 90, not to burn out in a few years. And that is when I got my brain working at full tilt, and I saw in us the thing that I didn't want when we came to LA - to grow to doubt ourselves, to question if the was the right choice - and I have known all along that it is the right thing and that this is where we are going to live and grow and work and thrive. The art and the biz is so alive here... this is the field inwhich I wish to plant myself ;-D

...to other news ~

The Resurrection Mary World Premier Screening!

It happens on the 23rd of Oct and will be showing at the World Famous (I am not sure if it really is, just sounds good) Pic Wick Theatre in Park Ridge. There is going to be a big afterparty - AND Bree and I will be home for it (Home for Thursday to Tuesday) Info tickets can be found @ resurrectionmary-movie.com - You should all come out and see it, have a drink with us and we can catch up! It will be amazing fun!

Also I had an audition for the Utah Shakespeare Festival Touring Company of Macbeth to play Macbeth... 70 shows over 4 months in 5 States! (With a bunch of Shows in VEGAS!) I should find out if I am in or not in a week or two, so I will keep you updated on that.

And if I don't go touring as Macbeth I am heading back to Utah for Sundance 2006 in Jan! So one way or another I are going to have ourselves a blast come the new year!

In the meantime, Bree and I have been auditioning for a ton of things - mainly commercials and short films. This week we are beginning a new phase of our plan - building our creative team. We have been running in some small circles for a time and now we are ready to break out and we need help to do, so we have begun research and looking into strong managers and getting out info and our product infront of important people. I had the chance and sent my info to everyone involved in the new James Bond movie because I heard that they wanted an unknown and you don't anymore unknown then me right now =) And Bree sent her stuff into David E. Kelly for advise on how to navigate through the entertainment world - since he gave up Law to go Hollywood like Bree has done... So there are alot of new things in the works.

Scott is still working hard on Till's Alley and we are going to make it into something great come hell or highwater! (Check out the link on the sidebar!)

And today we worked (mainly Bree did, I was more her assistant) location support on a commerical (for Russian TV) at the Daily Grill - and Bree was even it! Now she is going to be on TV on TWO CONTINENTS! Kick ass!

So, things have hit the up-swing, because we have chosen to change the course of our lives and command them again - So I thank you all again, sometimes we need to be held up to the mirror and see what we tend to miss about our lives and for that I thank you.

I have not forgotten...

I have not forgetton about "Today's Post"... Bree and I have been talking, about being actors and about being here... about having a life past this moment. About the big things: our life together, a family, and the where and when of all this. Now, while there is still some time to be had before we are even hearing wedding bells of our own, these are the kinds of things that we need to understand about where we are going with our lives.

Bree doesn't want to raise a family here, away from our families and all of our friends, and I see what she has to say. I don't want that either...

It seems that neither of us view LA as home, and that makes being here so hard sometimes. Even though Nick is here, and I am so glad that he is, being here doesn't feel as right as it did. Don't get me wrong, like I said yesterday, I am not packing up the gear and moving back to the Mid-West anytime soon.

I guess what makes it feel this way is that we don't want to part of the Hollywood game, we don't want to be on the cover of People and we see what someone will do to get that one moment in the sun. And that is not who we are... I had a hard question given to me tonight - Bree and I were at dinner talking this over again and she asked, "Do you want to be an actor, or do you want to be famous"... and I froze... because I didn't really know the answer... and that burned me up inside - because I want to be an actor... and if I become famous because of the world we live in, because of being good at my job, then so be it - but I don't want to be famous, and I think that I have been going about it all wrong out here, as though that was what I was trying to get.

I want to work - as an actor - to pay my bills from acting, which I know is the hardest type of job to have in the whole world, but that is what I want and that is what I came here to get. And I think what we came to realize is, that if I am here and trying and trying and not getting anywhere, there is nothing wrong with going someplace else to see about doing it there... I don't know if that someplace would be New York, or back to Chicago... who knows... I just know that LA is not my home, and I feel like it never will be.

This doesn't change much, really and yet it changes everything... Bree and I are here, for now, working and fighting for our dreams and who knows what the future holds for us, what will become of us here... we know that we have a home in the midwest and a place from which to regroup if things don't go the way that we want them too... but who knows...

So those are my thoughts... and I would love to hear from those of you that read this. I know most read and do not leave a mark of their thoughts, but this is one of those times when I would love to hear the thoughts of those that I hold dear to me.

Thanks for you time

Have a safe and wonderful Holiday

And a return trip

...Oh, you didn't know we had left LA? Well... a little backstory if you please...

for those of you that remember, and some who do not, when it came time for Bree and I to make our move together to LA, she had a house that see needed to part with and no one seemed to want it. One of our very best friends, Steve and Jen, bought it, as a gift to us... and our other best friends, Corey and Beth, now live in this house, renting it from Steve with plans to buy it from them in a year or so. This being the case, we promised Steve that when he opened Jekyll and Hyde at the Steel Beam theatre in September of that year, we would be there in the house for opening night.

Months pass and we kept talking about it and it looked less and less likely to be possible, as money became tighter here with us and Steve's hands became tied up in producing the show... but with the help of a little angel we managed to pull off the biggest of slight of hand I have been apart of to date.

We informed Steve that we could not afford to come, and while he was heartbroken, he understood and did everything in his power to get us there... but it was not to be... or so he thought. We would txt almost daily about the happening and about how the show was going and while the statement that we could not afford to come was not a lie, after we found a way, with a little insider help, we would roundabout txt that we understood he was sad, things would get much better if he would wait and see, and Sunshine is right around the bend.

The look of shock on his face when he saw us was wonderful, and worth everything that it cost to get there. But it was nothing compared to how amazing he was that night! The show was such an amazing treat and I loved every moment of it - and that was what was truely worth the trip back to Chicago. I am so proud of the work that he did that night, the work leading up to it and just how amazing he truely was and is and how he has grown as an actor. It was a great honor to watch him work that night - thank you for that Steve...

...and the trip did other wonders for Bree and I. I got to spend some wonderful time with her family, and that felt just perfect for the first time in my life. I have always gotten along with the parents and family of my girlfriend, but this fit just so perfect... it felt right in a way that it never was before. And that was a great feeling.

I also got to see Corey in the show - and he too was amazing and a pleasure to see him work - and see how hard he has worked on himself- he looked wonderful!

Got to see Scott and Kelly (who gave me a Darth Tater - which is the coolest thing ever!), Beth, Steve and Jen, my parents, Dave and Haystack's Family and Bree's family as well...

...and there has been a change in the way we view being out here... We had a great and wonderful talk about it when we got home... if this truely is home, and that was more what we talked about. Not that I am saying we are coming home (besides the screening and pilot taping...which I have news of too!) anytime soon... but I think Bree and I have a better understanding of why we came here and what we want to do with our time, as well as our lives together, in a much better way that I think we understood, or at least I understood before I came home to McHenry... I never really let it sink in how far away I am, or how much I truely missed everyone and how much I missed McHenry... I am not going to talk to much about it tonight, as I will write more about it in the morning, I want to sleep on my thoughts and come back to this idea fresh... so till tomorrow on that.

A fork in the road...

There comes a time, and sometimes it blindsides you and other times you can see it from very far away, that things in your life are going to change, or that you want so badly to make a change for the better. And today was one of those days.

I had my first audition through my new agent - my first agent audition ever. It was for a basketball player in a Nissan commercial. I went to a "casting house", which was a cool little building that has a bunch of small studios where casting people can hold their auditions. Today, when I went in, there was 10 commercials auditioning... from corporate asain men, to young guys like me, to old white men in tunics... and a random dog running around. It was crazy, and everyone acted like this was the way this world always works and just how it should be... I remember coming in and asking the girl at the desk where I was to go and when she pointed me to the board, I was shocked to see Disney, Subway and many others looking for people that day to.

So I check in, get a number and my picture taken... I wait the all of 10 mins (if even) and then I am called in with three other men - who look WAY more like basketball players than I do... we all pretended to drink something, as if we had just played a really hard game, and then I was done... a moment of my life - blink - over.

As I am leaving... after having watched these men in the waiting room... wondering if the guy next to my had ever played Hamlet, did he go to Yale, or was he just living in Long Beach and saw "Top Gun" and thought 'Shit, I can do better than that' and so he became an actor... between that, and the talks we had during my class last night, I have found that my broad focus has gotten me some really good hits, but if I want to make head way, if I want to get all that I desire from this town - I need to focus up, make some goals and figure out how to take this town truely by storm.

I just sat there wondering... how many of these guys work with my agent... and how many more times will I see the same faces at these auditions... are any of these guys any good... if so who, and how would anyone know... and how do I let people know that I am good... I wonder if they are thinking the same things about me, or are they just thinking about lunch or some hot chick they saw on their way in here today...

So I have begun work on some goals... which I will post later tonight. I have plans that are in the works - I have begun by working on the office andd streamlining it... and then I am going to put together some packages, for managers that I want, for casting directors working on shows that I want to be on and even some of the theatrical agents that I want to get with.

I have to run out to Hollywood now, a mic that we have to go and get for Bree to do voice overs from home before they close... but I will be back with some more words later this evening, and my thoughts on class from last night...

Till then -

A Week of Fun in the Sun!

Let's just get this part out of the way first... I worked Monday-Friday... started @ 11am and was done by 4pm @ the latest. =)

Monday 22nd:

I had my first class at the David Kagen School of Film Acting. =) And it was wonderful, I cannot wait to go back again. We worked on scenes for about 3 hours, and there was only four of us in the class and two teachers for that session, which was just wonderful! I had just the best time. I worked with Elie (who was my scene partner) and worked the camera's for the other team. They gave me some great pointer on how to bring the soul of myself to the surface more when I am working and thought that it was a great thing that I just run with an idea and make such solid choices. So I can tell that this is going to be a great learning tool - I felt myself getting to places that were very deep and very hard to get in and out of, which seems like a great new adventure in my acting.

Tuesday 23rd:

We had our last pick-up rehearsal, which was mainly a tech run-through for Brewster, the writer, who was going to be running tech on Thursday night since Steven had 'According to Jim' taping that night. It went kinda crappy, on multi-levels. One, we didn't do more than a sloppy Q-2-Q for Brewster, who didn't really have a good feel of what he was doing with the tech, then we found out that someone close to Steven had passed away, and he is just the sweetest man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. So it makes me really sad to have something bad happen to him like that. And then we had "The Talk" with Brewster about moving the show to Hollywood... and he basically told us no without ever saying no... after a string of "I am trying to get some named actors in it" and "well, if that falls through... something is better than nothing" (meaning our show) I, like most of us, was pissed and hurt... feeling kinda sold out from having put my heart in the production... but I know that everything will work out in the end.

Wens 24th:

I worked and then went home to hang out with Bree and Nick... nice night...

Thursday 25th:

After work I had an audition out in Hollywood, off Sunset at a small theatre for a short film called "To Live and Try in LA" which is all about actors and people trying to make it in their craft. I got to audition for this brain-less director... which was really fun. These guys I went in for were both really nice and the reading went rather well.

Then I headed off to the theatre for the final thursday night of Doubting Thomason. Brew ran the lights and sound, and though I am sure that only 3 of the 25+ cues was right, the show went rather well. I like that the four people that came out to see it, didn't even know the difference - well, all of them but Matt who came out to the show again, which was very cool. Nikki also came as well as Brennen's 'rents (who came again on Friday)

Steven could not be with us that night as he was taping "According to Jim" and that night he was given Employee of the Week on the show! Congrats Steven!

Friday 26th:

Final Friday of Doubting Thomason... Steven was there working the board, the house was packed and we rocked them from here to Hollywood and back! Reggie and Michael from work came, as well as many others, and it was a wonderful time had by all.

Saturday 27th:

Bree and I have to whole day off, and so the first thing that we do... is sleep in till 10:30am =) Hey, when you don't get to do it that often, you take it when you can and it was wonderful!

After that we went out and saw "The Brother's Grimm" which was a rather fun movie and worked on a closing night gift for Steven. We gave him a signed picture frame, with a photo of the five cast members and him together, with the review and a whole host of other little treats framed up together. And Steven, in a style that is only him, gave each of us a closing gift. As if the mugs that he had custom made for us were not enough, he put together a little gift bag with a play that he would love to do with us (The Norman Conquests and Steambath) and a wonderful little video treat that we haven't gotten to see yet. We tricked him into the gift during the curtian call of the night, when we called his mother up to the stage to give her a coffee mug for all of her love and support of the show... then we gave Steve his gift and all had a wonderful little cry (some not so little)

And thus closed Doubting Thomason... mine and Bree's first LA theatre experience, and what a learning and magical one it really was. It was quite the moving night that we had and I am so glad to have gotten to be apart of that show and those moments. I am sorry for all of those that didn't get to see it for one reason or another... it was a moment in my life that will stay with me for some time.

Sunday 28th:

Today I filmed "What a Great Idea" and my character went under a huge change since one of the very needed actors never showed up and it has now changed my impact on the whole shoot... I will not leak any details ( and for some of you, you are wondering what the hell "WAGI" is... it is a short film, now becoming full lenght, that I have been working on out here for about two months now... very interesting how we are going about putting the whole thing together... it should be wonderful, or a total mess, but at least it is fun!)

And following filming (and the proper misplacement of my wonderful black bag - thank baby for going back to the creepy theatre for it) I had to work one of the slowest nights I have done at DG yet... and then I came home to chili and Inside the Actor's Studio... until this moment... so that is the week in review...

Hulk Lives!

I just came home from watching Summerslam with Bree... and hard as it is to say (well, not really that hard, just not as fun to say) Hulk Hogan won! I know... it is hard to believe since he is 127 years young, but none the less he did win and the match was the very best of the whole night. Overall, we had a great time, ate too much pizza with Brian and are now in for a long and good nights sleep (I don't know about you, but I am spent)

So that is all I have to report for tonight. Tomorrow I start my new class, which should be fun, Bree and I have work and we look forward to the next week full of auditions, our last three shows of Doubting Thomason, and alot of hard work and even harder playtime!

So in the words of the immortal ~ What u gonna do brotha, when Hulkamania Runs Wild On YOU! ;)

good night

One Weekend to go, and then the unknown.

Sat Aug 20th:

So last night after we left, we headed to Santa Monica and Bree had her second audition for the day, which seemed to go well. She was auditioning for... a laywer! She said the office she went to was so cool - had a drum set, a foozball table and an adult-size tri-cycle! So not all bad... Then we three headed out to Studio City, near the CBS/Radford Studios, where we rehearsed Doubting Thomason on the "According to Jim" soundstage - also where CSI:NY is filmed and Will and Grace! (Along with Mad TV, That 70's show and other FOX hits) In Studio City, we had dinner on Nick, since he is a Sous-Chef at Daily Grill City Walk (which is up where the Giant Hulk is Michael!) he took us out to eat on his "Chef Card". And dinner was so amazing - one of his buddys is the Head Chef over at Studio City and so he hooked us up with a wonderful custom starter and our dinners, along with a white russian for me and a midnight martini for Nick, where just to die for!

After that we headed to the show... and something... magical happened last night...

This show has been something that I have been up and down about working on, and last night I really found something within working on it that was just... was. I could feel the steam train gaining speed as the show went on and I found myself living in the words, understanding this character and what it means to be hurt and on the edge in the ways that he is, and it just felt like such a different show when I was done. The best part about it, was at the end of the show, I felt like for the first time in the run, I had left everything I had on the stage... it felt like Macbeth, or Two by Two, or Good... it felt like I had done nothing at all, if that makes any sense... and it was so amazing. I haven't got that from a show and some time... so it was very wonderful.

After playing to a sold-out house and getting a standing O, we went to hang with our buddy Douglas for a little bit in his office, talk about his damage control job and got to see some of the wonderful clips of film that he has been working on... other than some really bad acting from a few of them... one of the actors, and I forget his name now, was just great and the others were so-so at best... but the way that he shot these pieces of work was just amazing... very "the Shield" like and I just love every little thing about that show, mainly the way that it is shot - because it gives you that hardern, dark, quick and dirty feel...

Sun Aug 21st so far...

So far, all I have done is wake up, check my email, let Jabez out (he says hello!) and get ready to have some breakfast...

We are going out to Hollywood to check out the Farmers Market and the Melrose Flee Market, both of which are going to be really cool and then we are heading to Brian Koehler's to watch Summerslam (and watch Hulk Hogan GO DOWN! HA HA HA!) It is so funny, because Bree and I had a two hour 'Talk' about why she thinks (wrong though she may be) that HBK is going to fall to the Hulkster and I had to spend that time setting her straight and letting her know that Hogan is not going to win... it was very funny. =)

This time a put a photo my buddy Mike just emailed me from Sundance of us with the new James Bond - Daniel Craig... he was a really cool guy. And in the background of the photo you can see the director of Layer Cake getting interviewed by Sundance TV.

Till next time kids!

(See, I told you I would get the hang of doing this on a regular basis... it just took me 6 months! :P)

Last weekend of Doubting Thomason!

Next weekend is the last weekend of our show out here in LA. I don't know what the fate of it after this is going to be, seeing as we have been talking about moving it to another theatre, maybe to Hollywood so more people will come out and see it. If you haven't seen the postcard yet, here it is.. check it out! =) the website is Doubtingthomason.com... check that out too if you like!

Another Brick in the Wall... Part... uh...

Friday Aug 19th:

~ Bree had to work today, so I took her in the morning and then ran to get the Baby Kia's oil changed. This took almost an hour and I had many other things that I wanted to get done with that day... so I ran over to the Apple Store and got my iPod fixed for the 3rd time in two months. The Apple Genius there said I should by a Lotto ticket because in two months I have had three iPods die because of a hard drive failure... and only one in like 100,000 has this problem - so he said it was very funny that I got three in a two month span of time... I didn't think having to come back to the Apple store for work on my iPod this many times was as funny, but I do see his point =)

Anyhow, I got it fixed and picked up some software for help with our work. iWork '05 and iLife '05... iLife has a program on it that Bree needs to do voice-overs for MAN Marketing back in Chicago, and some other funn little things... and iWork is to help us do really nice resumes and cover letters and such... if I could get the FREAK'N THING TO WORK! I have been on the phone with Apple now two days in a row trying to get it up and running... so we shall see...

...So later that afternoon, I got Bree from work, we went and got my new headshots picked up form ISGO (which I love by the way) and then we headed out for the show. Friday we played to an almost full house! Which was really great... I learned a hold host of new things about the character last night, and while I felt kind bad about the job I did, Steven (The dir.), as well as Bree and Nick, thought that the show and I were still great... I am glad though, because last night I was feeling like I didn't want to do the play anymore, and I now I am excited to dive into this new depth... That my mean nothing to anyone else, but to me it is part of "the fix" I get from acting, finding the depth and the darkness of the character and how to fight from that place and move into the light... (blah blah blah ;P)

Sat Aug 20th:

So this morning I woke and ran out to Long Beach for a short film audition... which I think went rather well. I had to do a monolouge, which I haven't had to do here in LA more than twice... so I used my old standard - my "Cow's" speech (from 'Hidden in this Picture') ...they didn't seem to find it too funny, or if they did, they sure didn't let me know that. After that I took to the long traffic-filled trip back home and spent more quality time on the phone with Apple Support, but they got my programs working this time! Yeah for that! (I was writing the 1st part of this while I was on hold!)

And now we are off, Bree had an audition for a Monster.com Spec Ad this morning and she has an audition for a TV show I believe this afternoon and then myself, Bree and Nick are going to go out and get some dinner in Santa Monica before the show tonight... One more weekend of shows after this one is over...

So until later!

-J.

(Oh yeah, this photo is my new headshot, what do you think?)

....some day I am going to get this...

Well, I haven't been on here for a few, but I am back... so here is a shorty update...

~ Been working a ton - making some ok money @ the Daily Grill.

~ My parents came out to see and and we had a wonderful time with them! I miss them tons, and I wish that they could have stayed longer, and that I would have had more time off to see them. We went to a ton of fun places like Hollywood and got to see Willy Wonka! It was cool!

~ The show is in its last two weekends and then we are going to be done with it for a little while... maybe move it to Hollywood or move on and do something else... we shall see.

Yesterday:

Bree and I worked in the morning and then went out to Mission Viajo (I hope I spelled that right) so she could audition for a film. The audition went really super and I cannot wait to hear back about if she got it or not. Then we came back home and hung out with Nick. It sounds like his pod (which he filled with all of his moving stuff) got messed up in-transit - so we shall see if we are going to get it this weekend or not... who knows...

Today and then some:

Had my new headshots taken, and they look wonderful. I had a meeting with my agent on Monday and she thought that they were super cool and will be up on the web soon... I get them back from the printers tomorrow! I worked today and Bree is filming a gig for a late night talk show called "The Comeback Show" which is produced by a producer for MTV, though I don't it is going to be on MTV.

Tonight we have the show. So far, Bryan, Jake, Kelly, Nick, Matt (my friend from work) and my Parents have seen it... Corey And Beth saw it before we were in it... I hope that we have some large houses this weekend, because they are always the most fun.

I am filming tomorrow - or so I think - for this film that Bree and I have been working on together... and I start my new acting class on Monday night, which I cannot wait to get started on! I have a cool audition for a short this weekend and I am trying to get some other projects that I have been working on off the ground all at the same time.

- As a side note, Bree and I went to see "Hustle and Flow" which was one of the very best movies that I have seen since Sundance (It was at Sundance this year, but I didn't get to see it...)

This morning/afternoon I worked again... it was a slow day at work but I made some really good money, so I was very happy.

... Well, I must be off to the show, and I promise that I won't be gone again so long... I have some fun, new things that I am working on... My Sundance and LA short doc and my 1st rough draft for Document (yes scott, pages are on their way to soon sir) SO that, along with a new, list of goals (which I am going to post next time) I have alot up my sleeve =)

...Much Love to you all!

Jason

Another day, another rehearsal...

So Last weekend I went up in the play "Doubting Thomason" in the role of Teddy/Lee, which is the gay Drama Queen (where I got naked, so you all missed out on that fun! :P) I had three nights and I milked them for all they were worth and the audience seemed to just eat it up. With a week of prep and one rehearsal I was very proud of the work that came out of it and I had alot of fun doing it. the man who owns the theatre that we used, Michael Holms, just loved my creation of the roles and other than a few minor notes, was really, REALLY impressed with my work on the show and my understanding of the character. I was very flattered... and then I later found, while cleaning out the theatre and getting things read for us to come in and work there, a letter of recommendation for Michael... from UTA HAGEN! He had been one of here acting students and this letter spelled out that she felt he was one of her very best! So that is... WOW!

...so for the past week we have been rehearsing "Doubting Thomason", myself in my role of the 6-week run Thomason/Robert, which is going to be a wonderful role. I have a few moments of humor, but overall, I am back to playing the grounding straight character, which is wonderful thing to be a part of, because all the other actors in the show are so amazingly giving! Bree has been doing so many amazing things with her creation of Lynnette/Bonnie (I think I spelled that right...) The humor is so strong with her and the sweet moments that we have together... they are just heartbreaking sometimes... It is truely amazing... So the show is going great and we have a preview on Saturday as my parents are coming to LA to see us this weekend... and it opend next week Thursday.

RPM Talent called me back - and they are going to sign me. I have a meeting with them on Monday to talk over my contract and where and how we go from here. So that is going to quite amazing - this is a huge step in the right direction and I am SO happy! =)

Oh!!! before I forget... so Steven, the director of this run of the show, he set us up to rehearse a few nights away from the theatre because there were classes in there... and where did he get, but Stage 9 at CBS Radford - the "Life According to Jim" soundstage! It was the coolest thing in the world! Just getting to walk around CBS and knowing that we were there to work in the same place where Gary Senece was filming CSI:NY! So sweet! Things are happen'! =)

...other news... working... alot... Nick is here in 7 days! I cannot wait! BCK: Call me and we will set up a time to Halo! Koehler: I am not dead and we are going to get together soon! Scott and Kel: I love and miss you guys! Michael and Kera: You are in my heart! I love and miss you as well! Little H: what is going on? I hope that all is well, my love is with you!

That is all for today - I have to head to work and bree is filming today, on the set of "Being NSYNC"... i know she is having a blast!

Back from the land of the dead...

So it has been a little over two months since the last time that I have been here, and I am very sorry if any of you were scared that I had died or gotten a drug habit and though "blog... no freak'n way!". The true reason behind why I haven't been on here in so long is too fold - busy and lazy...

I have been working like a crazy person to find acting work (which I have found some) and find regular work ( which i have also found some) to pay my bills and keep myself afloat. This has been rather hard over the last two months and when I have been working long days on-set and then catering some gig, the last thing I have wanted to do was blog, but i am very sorry for not keeping this up-to-date (I know I don't talk to most people because they don't, or I forget to, return letters, emails or calls and this is the only way for them to know what is going on in my life)

So, onto the good stuff... I don't really have dates for these events, but here are some of the cool and not so cool things that i have gotten to do in the last two months.

- Got a catering job with a company called Party Staff; thru them I got to work in such wonderful places as the Shrine Auditorium washing dishes, Pepperdine University in Malibu serving lunch to rich college students and a Christian Fellowship group, Graduation at USC and my fav was the Cinderella Man afterparty - where I got to meet Russell Crowe (among many MANY other Actors, Producers and Directors... who didn't really care who I am ;D but I still got to meet Mr. Crowe!)

- Bree and I (well mostly Bree) got to work on a short film called War of the World: Special Report. I am not really sure what it is for, but it was really cool - we went out to the Mojave Desert, got put up in a hotel and filmed all day. I ended up in the film because they needed a young cop and theere guy bailed on them last minute and no one was small enough to fit into the uniform but me... it was cool. I got to drive an old Bronco with a Police light rack around in the desert for a few hours and Bree was a news reporter and filmed ALL DAY! See had a ton of lines and I cannot wait to see it and email a copy of it to people (let me know if you want emails with this stuff when we get it)

- Bree has worked on a few commercials, one for Virgil's Hardware where she plays a "Rambo" Mom braving the wilds of the hardware store (this is currently on Southern Californian TV) and a few for Star Ford

- The Cost-U-Less Insurance Commercials that bree and I filmed (I think I mentioned them in the last post... or at least the audition for them) are done and mine is running. If I didn't tell the story, I shall do so now, Bree and I got an audition through our neighbour for these two commericals, real low budget type stuff. The Director was a friend of Kelly's (our neighbour) and she recommended that if he needed people he should see us and he said 'Sure, come on down!" Well, we wowed his socks off (he now travels ever where bare foot) and got both of them, she in one and I in the other. The one I filmed wow'd the EX. Producer so much that they have plan'd a whole marketing campaing around my character. So my commerical is airing now on TV here in LA and all around Southern California, they flew me up to Sacramento a few weeks ago to record a voice over (the very fist time I have ever been flown some place for acting - and I didn't have to pay for it! It was super cool!) and we are going to do our next commercial in a week or two... two of six =D

- Bree and I have gotten "The Actor's Must Have Job" - we are waiters in LA. I never really thought that I was going to do that, but hey, I have to do what I have to do, and I see now why actors get this job... if you find a good place, it pays really well and the hours are not to long and very flexable! It is a nice place, called The Daily Grill, very much an old school LA type place, like the Brown Durby or something along those lines. Great food, wonderful people, the Prez of the company knows Bree and I by our first names and we see them quite often. David Shwimmer worked for the Daily Grill (in a store that just closed last week) for 5 years and was still working there when he got Friends! So that is super cool! ...and through this we got to eat out a wonderful place on Rodeo called "The Grill on the Alley" which is a frequent'd by Brian Grazier, Adrian Brodey, Kevin Costner... and THE ROCK! (I have only seen Brian Cox there on the two times that Bree and I went... but our meal the first time was given a 1/2 off because we know the owner and the 2nd time we had our meal bought for us! now that is what I call VIP baby!)

- Bree and I had auditions with an agency, RPM Talent Agent, over the last few weeks (rpmtalent.com) - she went and auditioned and they loved her so much they signed her later that day... I had my audition and they said that they loved me... but that was three days ago and I have yet to hear from them... so we shall see.

- We are also working on show called "Doubting Thomason" (doubtingthomason.com) which I will going up in next week, replacing one of the actors that has to leave the show because he is heading off to film, and then Bree and I shall be in the show starting in two weeks. It is an interesting play-within-a-play about a theatre company that loses the rights to their show one week before opening and must come up with a new play within a week. It is very funny, has nude men and ladies, and gun play! Very fun (And yes, I am naked in the play, so if that is reason enough to some to come visit LA - or for other who have "been there, done that" and wish to stay away - you have all been warned! =P)

- We have also been cast in a feature, called "What a Great Idea" and a short, "Macbeth"... and had about 30 plus auditions for other cool stuff over the last month...

- Steve came out to visit and we got to hang out and go to E3 - which was F'n GREAT! So many sweet games, free Mnt. Dew! OH MAN it was cool - and I was so happy to see Steve again (We went to the grill for the 1st time when he was here)

- Micheal, Kera and Little Larry where out here for Biz and pleasure - we got to see the Resurrection Mary Trailer and that was super cool to see! I cannot wait to see the finished movie!

- Corey and Beth are here now, staying with us and going out to do all kinds of sweet stuff!

- I have gotten to see a bunch of cool movies: Land of the Dead (w. Bree, Micheal, Kera and Little Larry), Batman Begins (which everyone should see!)... and a bunch of others that I cannot think of right now...

So other than some "how the crap are we going to pay for _____" moments over the last month or two, things have been, for the most part really great. Work is going good, things are looking up for the acting end of things, movies getting ready to film and submitions for a bunch more coming up, Nick is moving out here soon and both my parents and Bree's are coming out to see us real soon!

So, much love to you, and I will be back with more great news in a few days... not two months! =)

love ya all - write, email or call soon!

Hello True Believers!

Little "in honor of Stan the Man" today... now down to the biz... So I am very sorry if people have been waiting for an update or something (which I bet the only person who reads this on any regular basis is my mom and Rockstar... but anyhow)

Things have been going okay here... working our asses off!

So... since April 15th or so...

- Bree and I got to work on a commercial for "Cost U Less" insurance, which was tons of fun. Made a new buddy, dir of the commercial, Mr. Jake Cooney. He is super cool and has been by to play Halo @ and eat grilled cheese... The shooting went great, Bree was in one, playing a mom spending too much on car insurance, and I was in another, which was a 70's Game Show style commercial. The Ex. Producer liked the work and might be turning my character into some kind of spokesman for the company, which would be really great... but we shall see what happens with that.

- Bree had her agent meeting and is taking a commerical class and then will be going back to the agent and seeing what they want to do from there.

- Bree also got to work on another commercial for Westwood Medical Center (or something like that, she is at rehearsal right now and I cannot remember the name of the place - but it was a REALLY high end doctor's office) - she was the Host of the commercial, giving a tour of the place - very cool.

- Bree has been cast in an orginal theatre piece... I am not sure the name of the show, but she has a leading role and will be Stage Managing a few of the shows too, which will be nice.

- Bree has also been working on Beyond Thearpy out here at USC, which is where she is while I am writing this...

- We both have gotten a job doing catering work, so that we can pay the bills when there is no acting work, which has been needed, because paying gigs have been a bit far between. It is getting a little tight here and so we are trying to work real hard to keep our heads above water.

- I have been doing work on both Post-Mortem and Macbeth (the two short films I am working in) and I have been sending my stuff out to agents and such... hoping to hear back from them sometime this week.

- Auditioning here and there... that has been spotty too...

- Went and saw "The Hitchicker's Guide to the Galaxy" the other day - go and see it! This movie is just as wonderful as the book! Just wonderful! So fun and funny and well thought-out! (Or at least I think so!)

...other than that (and i know that I am missing things - and I really am going to try and do this a bit more often... but when all I have to talk about is how I dressed like a waiter and washed dishes for some 90 year old man's Birthday party and hour from my home, I don't really have anything great to talk about...) Steve is coming soon and we are going to go to E3, which should be TONS of fun! I can hardly wait... and there are things on the Resurrection Mary website (resurrectionmary-movie.com) so check that out when you have time... looks cool...

I hope to have some good news in a day or two. Tomorrow afternoon I have a 2nd interview for a bartending job, which could really turn the money problem right around, but not till the end of the month (since that is when this place opens, and while I would be working before that, no fat tips if they are not open yet, you know what I mean) and I have rehearsal today for Post-Mortem... need to figure out how I am going to eat some guys arm... =)

Much Love! Talk to you again - call or email - or even visit!

J. and B.

PS - Dunn, that sounds great hun, I cannot wait to see you - hope that the kids are doing good and the shows went well this year! =)

turning a corner here

Well, things have been going super here for Bree and I in the last 10 days since I wrote. We had our meeting with U.S. Concepts and that seemed to go really good. And we worked on "Las Vegas" for a wonderful 16.5 hour day! It was SO LONG! But the great thing about it was Bree getting to talk to James Cann. Yeah, that's right - Bree not only talk'd w/ James Cann, but Cann winked at, flirted with and directed Bree in the little scene that we got to work on! It was super cool! And She got to talk to Dean Cain too! (Yeah, Superman was on-set! And that ruled too!) But I don't know if we are going to want to work on "Las Vegas" again, mainly because of the large crowds - they had over 150 people and tons of them were pains in the ass - beating each other up over food and a place to sit - when, if they would wait for five minutes, there was more than enough room... it was so strange... I don't really understand what goes thru these peoples heads sometimes... ok, most of the time. But Bree and I had a good time even though it was a really long day - made some nice friends - Like this guy Adam, who is also from the midwest and new to LA (well, fairly new) - I hope that we get to hang out again with him soon.

Then, as the week went on we have done a bunch of cool stuff! Bree and I went and auditioned for a student film called "All for Her" (which I am writing this from the set - we are on the second day of filming), the audition went great and they wanted both of us. The film is about a wife (Bree) that kills her abusive husband (Me) and then while the Cops are sniffing around trying to figure out what is going on, she feeds him in a meat pie to a homeless guy! Super fun huh!?

So we are working on that today - also, I had an audition for a short film of Macbeth - which is going to be for a director's reel and I am going to get a copy for my own acting reel... and I got cast as... Macbeth! Which is super cool - it is a modern version done with the shakespearian text and is only a few scenes - from the Letter to Lady Macbeth scene thru the Bloody Dagger/Kill'd Duncan Scene - with a few tiny things here or there missing, but over all super cool! So that is going to be filming at the end of May...

And I got cast as a Zombie in a short horror film, which is going to be filmed on a sound stage in Hollywood, the whole nine yards on this one, production-wise. The woman that is directing it has won a ton of awards for her short film work and this going to be the last short film that she works on... it is going to be so cool! And I get to eat someone's arm AND get shot thru the head! Now THAT is acting! =)

And Bree has been working on Beyond Therapy at USC and she has been having a blast!

On sunday, Bree has an audition for another theatre show... "Doubting Thomason" which is going to a have a six-week run and is playing in Hollywood!

And on Monday - Bree and I have an audition for an Insurance Commercial which is going to play locally, and that might lead to some more work...

...did I mention that Bree had a meeting with an Agent (Zanack, Passon, and Pace... I think I spelled those names wrong) and we got to meet with a management company for possible rep, and on our way out with made friends with someone who worked on Army of Darkness! This town is SO COOL!

...and then there was my birthday - Bree took me to Six Flags: Magic Mountain and THAT was the coolest thing ever! The rides were super great and there was sushi at the park. There was SUSHI at SIX FREAKIN' FLAGS! This is a wonderful world! =) We went on all the rides a few times - The X was my favorite! ...and the Superman ride... not so good - I haven't gotten to ride a REALLY good Superman ride yet... Superman: The Ride at Six Flags: Great America was cool... but even that was WAY to short! It was a great birthday @ Six Flags and then we had In-and-Out Burger... =D Thanks to everyone that called or sent me emails and txt's for my birthday - it was so nice of you guys. We miss you all so much and it brought a smile to our faces.

...so today I got to talk to my parents about their trip and everything that we have been up to over the past week or so, the casting and whatnot... and got to talk to Kim about the movies, work and everything... and I got to talk to Steve about his up-coming audition, his trip to LA and us going to see Batman and Star Wars and such - oh yeah... and E3!

...I think that is all, and if not, I will be back in a day or so to clear up any missing reports! Otherwise, email often or call - we always love to hear from you and Please come out to LA to see us soon! You will just love it here - i know it!

-J and Bree!

I am going to get better at doing this...

...So Bree is home after an Easter weekend away, we got our new headshots done last week and it went super. David was such a nice and wonderful guy and the shoot went so good - we get the photo's back tomorrow, and i cannot wait to see what they look like (plus I cannot wait to start sending them out to agents and such to get some more work)

Speaking of work, things here have been going great with that too. Bree got to work CSI on Friday (I didn't work anything because there was nothing for my type) and this weekend I got to see Sin City - which is one of the best new movies to come out in a while. I just loved it - it is so stylized and smooth and... just damn cool! I went Bryan to see it and later this week, Bree and I are going to take Koehler to see it, which will be great, because I know that they are going to love it.

On sunday, Bree and I went down to Santa Monica, which is the most wonderful, beautiful place... the pier itself is kinda strange and dirty, but the Ocean... the beach... oh man, I have never seen anything so wonderful - and the sunset that we got to watch was amazing... we did a little shopping 3rd street - which was super nice. There are a ton of outdoor malls here - mainly because it is never cold and it normally never rains... which it hasn't done for quite some time now... For my McHenry pals, I got a new pair of Green Shoes this weekend - it is their 2nd coming andthey are super SUPER nifty cool! I just love them.

Yesterday, Bree and I went to see Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, which was a cute little movie and if you are looking for something fun and light, check this out - it was good. That, lunch at a little place Bree and I love call "The Islands" and then home for a little work (searching for auditions and preping for what we had to do the next day) and then it was off to Koehler's for Wrestlemania 21! ... as a side note, we almost got to go to WM 21... there were a handful of tickets released the day of the event and we were going to buy them for myself, Bree and koehler... but we couldn't get ahold of Brian to see if he could/would get out of work to go, and on the off chance that wouldn't work we didn't want to be stuck with the ticket... well, needless to say, we didn't buy them but now I know Brian would have faked his own death to go, and next year - April 6th - WM 22 is going be in Chicago - and I think I might need to visit the family for my birthday! =)

Today, Bree is working on a HBO show called "Comeback" and I had an audtion for the Columbia Pictures film "Gridiron Gang" w/ The Rock! ...they were looking for High School football players, and needless to say, i was a little old looking - but there were guys there, and I just think they either don't know how to read or are just stupid, which were either WAY to old (i mean, I could Pass for high school with the right clothes) or they were SUPER out of shape and knew NOTHING about football... it makes you wonder sometimes...

Tonight we have our last class... tomorrow is my birthday - 25... holy crap! and later in the week I have a meeting with US Concepts here in LA and Jabez is going in for a haircut and check-up...

So, till later taters!

Easter on the Coast

Well, it has been about two weeks since the last time that I was in here, and so I thought that I would drop an update...

~ Worked more background stuff: Me: More West Wing, The Inside, Murder Book, Las Vegas and others that I can't remember Bree: Monk, The Inside (not on the same day as me), Soccer Moms, Bones (this we did together), and a crappy HBO show that was not nice to her and shall remain nameless...

Other than that, we have been looking at headshot people, Bree and I have been searching for agents and auditions and such, we have been exploring more of LA every weekend - this past weekend we went to Wizard World in Long Beach and got to see a ton of great comics and comic people - Bree got a few new Supergirl T's and I got a Green Lantern Hoodie and a "He-man is the coolest" T and we got Brian an Aquaman T! Also got to play the new Hulk game that is coming out - and boy o' boy - that games rules! Also got to see, though I didn't really care to talk to (which suprised the hell out of me) RVD and Virgil from the WWE... so as you can tell Wizard World has been the most fun and iinteresting thing that has happend in the coarse of the past to weeks...

Bree had a death in the family this week and she left for Chicago yesterday to go be with her family. God bless and God's speed to her journey and safe return to LA.

So Jabez and I have been here for a day or so and will be doing Easter, just me and him... I am not yet sure what we should do for Easter, seeing as I have never done it alone before... I either always had to work or I went to my mom's house (or while I was living there, it was just there) but my parents are on a cruise this year, my sis and my baby are both far away and I don't work on the weekends, so I am not real sure what to do with myself... but I will figure something out - hey, always do! =)

So for next week, we have a date set with a headshot guy, I have an audition for a short film on Saturday and then I believe we are just going to do more extra work - Bree comes back tuesday night (tenative) and april 5th is right around the bend (and for those of you not in the know - that is my birthday - shared with Mr. Spence Tracey! and my dad's is two days later! Shared with Brando! how cool is THAT!) and Two days before my big day - is Wrestlemania 21! Which is here in LA... tho I don't have tickets, but it is still cool that I live in town that would host Wrestlemania! AHH! =)

So that is enough useless babble from me - talk to you soon! Miss you from back home more than you know... please email or call or something and I am trying to do the same, but those of you have emailed and you never write back - please write back =)

Thanks bunchs and HAPPY BUNNY DAY aka The Big Man is Back Day!

J. =)

Removed from the Fellowship... wondering in circles for the moment...

As one might guess, I have been a bit on the busy side of late, both Bree and myself, with the move and getting unpacked and what not... so here is cliff notes version of our lives since I came back to McHenry to get her and Jabez.

~ Feb 10th: I head out to LAX for the all-day and into the night flight from LA to Chicago... Bree meets me at the airport and drives me home, this is the first time I have gotten to see her or anyone from home in over a month. While in LA, I found us a nice place to live in Highland Park, Bree calls us "El Taco Norte" since we are some of the only white people that live in this area... but it is very nice and we have everything we need within minutes of where we live.

5223 1/2 Monte Vista Street
Los Angeles, CA 90042

So, we come home and over the next week we pack up the house, I load the Uhaul, we get to see my parents and go out for dinner @ Fox Hole Pizza, we head up to milwaukee to get my new headshots done before I leave for LA (and I think that they look really cool - they will be good for a while, till I get an agent and he tells me to get new ones, because they always do that! =P) we got to eat @ Pizza Man, saw Chris for his birthday with all of the McHenry Gang, went to Brass w/ Steve, Jen, Beth and Corey, ate a ton of times @ Haystacks (where I got to hang with Dave and Nick a bunch!), got to see my two best friends in the world get engaged on Valentine's Day (Scott and Kel!) and overall got to spend some great time with my close friends and my family

~ Feb 19th: Bree and I, with the truck loaded, the car packed and Jabez ready for the long trip, said "See you soon" to her parents, Nick, Jen and Steve... and then we set out for LA. During the first day we got as far as Lincoln, NE and we stop'd for the night... the next day we got as far as Vale, CO and the snow was coming down so hard we had to stop for the night... the next day we got to Vegas and stay'd with Bree's good buddy Amy and the day after that we pull'd into town... LA was under a mass cloud of on-and-off rain and they said it was going to keep doing this for the next few days (it didn't) - we got here in the afternoon and we unload the truck with the help of our neighbors from across the street and my buddy Bryan (thanks a ton pal! =D) Over the next few days, we got things unpacked and started to organize, we met our upstairs neighbor, her name is Kelly, an actor and very cool.

~ March 3rd: Bree finds the number of a "Calling Service" named Vision Casting, which for those of you the don't know what that is, out in LA lots of people make a living being extra's in films and TV shows, and the calling service will call you and book you to do background work, otherwise you have to call all of the "Casting Hotline's" everyday and do it yourself... Well, we sign'd up for a month (and it is month to month) and she booked us for a movie that weekend - Akeela and the Bee w/ Laurence Fishburn! Elise, the woman we sign'd up with, told us to register with Central Casting, because they do 80% of the work in town and it would be really easy to get us booked if we signed up with them... so we did that on Friday... and on the way home Bree calls the ladies hotline and books a new Fox show called "Crazy Lawyers" with Chris O'Donnell on Monday and while she is on the phone looking up stuff for me, I get called by Central to work on Will and Grace on Monday and Tuesday! So we have been booking work all week...

Jason: Mon and Tues: Will and Grace Wens: Summerland (WB) Thurs: The West Wing Fri: ?
Bree: Mon: Crazy Lawyers Tues: Crossing Jordan Wens: CSI:Miami Thurs: The West Wing Fri:?

So things have been cool - Bree has been having a blast and has been featured everytime that she has been on one of the shows, while I got to work the easiest job ever - sit at a cafe and pretend to talk and then get excited and leave... no lines for either of us yet, but we are starting to figure out where things are, getting on sets and learning how things work from the inside out.

I am going to start looking for some kind of survival job soon though, because the background thing doesn't pay so great and we need some more money coming in, you know =)

Well, we love and miss you guys SO MUCH! And we cannot wait to come home to see Resurrection Mary and see everyone, or when you guys come out here to hang out! I have to go and get ready for Summerland tonight and get our clothes out of the dryer! =)

Email, call or txt us! We have our phones with us on-set almost everyday!

Love and miss you!

Now in Rivendall and the trip onward

Yeah, I know that i skip'd "Part two" but that was when I was going to write me that day and since i am just going to fill you in now, we are just going to keep moving on =) And I am very sorry for not updating any sooner - I have been super busy trying to find a place for bree and I live, so it has been hard updating...

The 25th- Feb 1st:

During the rest of the fest i saw bunch more films (at this point in the fest all I wanted to do anymore was see films and get going to LA, i had been done with the whole "Let's get into private parties" thing...)

So i got to see "Strangers with Candy" and met the writer/director Paul Dinello, saw "The Chumscrubber" with Glenn Close, "Reefer Madness: The Musical" w/ Alan Cummings (who's birthday it was that day and the whole theatre sang 'Happy Birthday' to him!), "The Hero" (which won the Best World Dramatic Grand Jury Prize) and a few others, which I cannot seem to remember and as a result I am thinking that they were not that good then, or I would have remembered them.

On the night of the 29th - Mike and I went to the awards event and the after party (we were one of the only non-current filmmakers that were let into the event and that is because we got a great hook-up on tickets!) So we watched the awards, drank the free drinks (we also had a nice hook-up with this, a friend that will remain nameless, that got us drink tickets all night long so we never had to pay for anything. Even John C. Riley didn't have that =D) and ate the wonderful free food... saw and talked to John C. Riley, saw Steve Buscemi and Crispen Glover... got to talk with the lead actors from Monster Thursday (which was very cool)... got to hang out with Rachel finally! But after a littl while the party began to get boring and I seemed to lose eveyone, so I just hop'd the bus back...

The next day and the day after, we broke down the festival - the town was totally dead again and all the filmmakers had gone back to Hollywood, or where else they were from... and we were alone in Park City again... the fest came down much faster than it went up (which is always the way) and the night before I set out, there were a ton of people over at my condo, I got to go in the hot tub finally (which was fun) and the next morning I set out for LA (the morning of Feb 1st)

~Meanwhile~ Back in McHenry, there was wonderment brewing, as my buddy Steve bought Bree's home and set the pieces in motion for her and I to be together in a much timely fashion than I thought we were going to be! (Which is SUPER!) So the house is sold and Bree has begun to pack the house up and figure out how we are going to get all of our things across the country to LA...

So, on the morning of Feb 1st - @ 6am, i set off westward and through the final leg of my trip. Got to talk to a few more people on the phone, Bree, Paul, my family and others... and during my time in Vegas I stop'd long enough to eat at In-n-Out Burger! But something bad happens as I cross into California... I stop'd at a gas station and while getting out of the car I drop'd my phone on its face and brake the screen - which in turn cause me to lose all txt ablilty for about 5 days! AHH! But I keep on trucking and get to LA and to Brian's and things are going great!

So strating the very next day, I am very down, about the phone and my brain hurts in thinking about how the crap am I going to find us a place to live on such short notice!? But thanks to the magic of craigslist.com I find a ton of places, and Brian and I walk all over his area to look at place and write down everyone that i come across! Well... a few days go by, I look at a bunch of place, and call about million it seems, and then I found one in Highland Park... hardwood floors, beautiful place... and I get this for us... so now that the search is over, Bree has gotten me a plane ticket to come back to Chicago (which i hear is SUPER COLD AGAIN! AHHH!) I am ready to enjoy the few days that I have here.

So I meet up with my other buddy Bryan (notice the difference in spelling!) who I worked on "Boo!" with (Thank you Lansu and Wollner) and we get the chance to hang out - I got to see his place an on Superbowl Sunday, he takes me with a few of his pals (Connor and Brian) to Q's, which is this cool pool bar, where Mr.cool ~ Vince Vaughn comes to watch the game! (well he was there for about 20 mins, then he went next door, I think there were more woman there, but he came back later) And Connor, Brian, Bryan, Koehler and I are going to start "Halo 2" gaming soon and that should be just a blast!

And Koehler and I have been watching WWE again (got to see the Royal Rumble a few days ago!) and we have been watching tons of cartoons and playing video games... which has been tons of fun. My txt powers are back, as I got me new phone in the mail yesterday and Bree and I talk on the phone everyday! Which is great (not nearly as great as seeing her everyday would be, but about as great as I can have since we are still 2000 miles apart for at least a few more days...)

But on the 10th I will be touching down on Midwestern Soil again, as a California resident... Bree's and my new address is:
5223 1/2 Monte Vista ~ Los Angeles, CA ~ 90042

The phone numbers for now are going to stay the same and if you want to send things (even a card or something) I would wait till the end of the month, because we won't be back there till then...

Much love to you all, and thanks for the support thus far - it has been great and much needed! I cannot wait to see as many people as I can when I get back to Chicago, and I want to thank those of you that have been so supportive and taken such good care of my baby while I have been away making a place for us in the "New World" =D

For the end of the western world ~ J.

On my way to Rivendale; Part One

(ok - I have been so busy working, seeing movies and trying to make contacts at the parties I have been to, I haven't had much time to update this and I am sorry... this entry is incomplete but I am going to post the first part today and I hope that I can post more later today about the rest of the fest. It has been a blast - thank you to those who have txt or call'd or emailed or send carrier midgets - it has been well needed. This trip, as fun as it has been, has also been very hard, because I have never really been out in the big world all by myself (tho don't start cryin or anything, I am fine) but it has been hard and I thank you for the love and support. So onto "On my way to Rivendale: Part one)

~ GCC W/ PF to you Sam - thank you for the late night talks and making me feel like this was the right thing to do. ILUMTA! CWM...~

well I haven't updated since monday and the fest has gotten underway... It is crazy up here. Since the 17th to today, the 25rd... I have gotten to see 7 movies (12 when the fest ends) and go to a bunch of cool parties-

The 18th:
Murderball: A doc about the Quad Rugby Team which was so moving and so wonderful. To see these men do such amazing things with their lives, they were more whole and had fuller lives then people I know who are physically whole people.

The 19th: This night I went to the staff opening party... it was very boring and I went home early... no movies...

The 20th:

This was the opening night of the fest and the opening movie was "Happy Ending" starring Maggie Gyllenhaal (who I saw on the street with a pizza)... Robert Redford was here to give his opening speech and my roommate Sean said he say Brad Pitt at the opening party... oh, did I mention that we were not invited to this event... Instead they had a volunteer screening... to kinda keep us away from the opening party... that is thanks for ya =P So I went to the movies instead of the party...

Mysterious Skin: this movie was so strange... and very hard to watch, but I thought that it was really a great film, though I don't think that I am going to ever see it again. It is about these two boys that were sexually assult'd by their little league coach when they were small and how is changes their lives and the paths that they take to find one and other again and how they deal with the understanding of their lives... I felt dirty, but at the same time empower'd and happy when the movie was over... it was a good film, though not my fav...

Old Boy: This is a great Korean movie about a man who is kidnap'd and imprisoned for 15 years... then let out with no answer as to the why or the who and he has to find out what happened in his life and what he did that someone would want to do something this horrid to him... and the twists that this movie takes are so intense and this was just a great, fast-paced, fun and mentally interesting film.

The 21st:
This was a day of hardcore film watching... saw 3 movies this night - lots of fun!

Layer Cake: This was an English Gangster film, which was super and I don't want to say to much about it because it is going to go wide release (If you want to know about it, just ask) which has Daniel Craig in it - and I got to meet him after the movie and get a photo... and (on the 23rd) i got him to sign the ticket I had from the movie - very cool guy... he was also in a movie that I saw later on that night... but up next was...

The Matador: This movie had Pierce Brosnan and Greg Kinnear... It was a wonderful twist on the buddy film, mixed with Pierce playing a hitman with a potbelly... there is one very funny scene where he walks across this packed hotel in nothing but a speedo and cowboy boots! the movie was just wonderful! (Got picked up by Miramax yesterday)

The Jacket: this was a volunteer screening, late-night, but was wonderful! Adrien Brody was amazing in this film and Daniel Craig was in it too! The movie is about a military vet who goes on a journey into the future, where he can foresee his death and is left with questions that could save his life and those he loves. It was one of the best that I have seen at this point!

The 22nd:

I saw no movies this day... I work'd and then went to a party on Main Street, at this bar called O'Shucks, which was a ton of fun. I walked around downtown and saw a bunch of great actors!

The 23rd:

After work (where I saw Daniel Craig again) I went to mty first private party. It was at the Snow Park Lodge, where there was tons of free bree, music, free massages and manicures (and yes, I got one of each, which was very cool) and tons of free food (Lots of cookies!) I meet a bunch of great people and Tasha's buddy Chris and his friends from Vegas, Linda, were at the party. Chris was there doing music and promoting his film and they needed a place to crash for the night (well, two nights) and so they slept up on the couch in the front room.

The 24th:

The Squid and The Whale: This movie is one of my favorites from the fest so far - this and Layer Cake (which I got some really cool hats from, Layer Cake that is...) Jeff Daniels was wonderful! This is a movie about a family that is broken in two and how they still live as a family, come to terms with who they are and why they are. Very funny and simple....Laura Linney stole the film and I thought that she was so amazing with her scenes that were just her and Jeff (Who I got to meet and took a photo with... though I think he wasn't very happy to either be at the fest, or at the least to have our photo taken... but it was still wonderful to meet him, as he is one of my favorite actors) - the getting into this film was kind of a pain, but thanks to "an angel in green" at the theatre, we managed to get seats that were left after the film began - thanks to you for that! This theatre only had 15 volunteer tickets...and the waitlist line was HUGE! so I am thankful that we got in to see the film...

And then I treid to get to another film I was invited to the night before by one of the film's producers, but the bus was running late and I couldn't quite make it in time, but I did run into Chris and Linda on Main Street and they took me to dinner as a thank you for my letting them sleep at the condo I am staying at... very nice of them. It was nice to get to talk to them some more about what they do, what they want to do, myself and Bree and our plans, and just wonderful conversations overall - very fun. We almost got into the Snoop Dogg party, but the "in" we had fell through and we ended up going to the Queer Lounge instead (which was "the" hot party of the night I found out the next day)

Next Up: The 25th thru the 29th and my prep for LA, my baby's house sells and much more! Stay tuned!

After Weathtop Part Two

So I didn't have a short day... but now I am back to fill you in on what has been up here in the wonderful world of Pre-Sundance.

Jan 13th - Jan 17th: Moved into my condo, which is a sweet little place. I have seven roomies, but only two do I hang out with on a regular basis or anything like that. Their names are Mike Hoke and Chris Greene. Mike is from the DC area and Chris is from Seatle, Washington. Mike works of Fox News our of DC and Chris has been looking for some kind of marketing job or something. Both love film and Mike wants to get into filmmaking, either behind the camera or even a little infront of the camera. And chris has done all kinds of PR for tons of films that have come through his neck of the woods. They are both really cool guys and a blast to hang out and work with. Both of them work with me in HQ of Sundance and we have been setting the fest up for days... We have been unloading trucks, getting the ballrooms set-up, unloading more trucks, hanging signs up all over the hotel... going out for a bite to eat every once in a while and for the most part just hanging around our condo. We are working for Al and Tina, who are both super nice and we have one other member to our HQ team ~ Anegret Eckl, who is from Germany. I found out while talking to her today that she has worked at a bunch of other film festivals (the Toronto Film Fest and the Munic Film fest)

No one but the locals are really here yet, but they are going to begin to arrive tonight and tomorrow afternoon - so things are going to get crazy in a huge hurry! I have a ton of movies that I am looking forward to checking out and I cannot wait for the fest to get going. Thank you guys for all of the nice email and wonderful comments - I miss you guys alot. I am trying to get some good footage of the fest, but has been hard, we have been really busy working most of the time. Right now I am waiting for two trucks to come in before we go home for an hour and then to training... though I have no idea what kinda training we are going to have or go through... wither way it should be fun and I cannot wait - the Fest needs to get started now! It will be good... and I have been sick for the first few days, I think trying to get use to being here was hard on my body, but now I am fine and ready to go out and have a good time.

Hey neil - "Stranger with Candy" is playing here and I am going to try and see it! I thought you would think that was cool!

Well, the trucks should be here soon and I will come back and update some more in a day or so when something new and cool has happened - only 3 days and fest is under way!

Much love ~
J.
